Clinuvels breakthrough drug SCENESSE® (afamelanotide 16mg), has been approved in the European Union for the treatment of a severe skin condition called erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP). This is good news because SCENESSE® is very effective in Vitiligo, a skin disease where the body destroys its own color cells. US approval cannot be far behind, and once available in the US market, it can be used off-label for Vitiligo! Stay tuned.
Planning pre-wedding skincare can be as confusing as picking from the many different cakes at the bakers. There are several suggested procedures and timelines. Many June Brides start their facial regimens 3 to 6 months prior to the Big Day! Treatments and appointment scheduling should be done approximately 3 months in advance with Dr. Resnik or myself.
First things first. Facial and Micro Combo. Facials are a treatment for the face that is meant to cleanse, firm, smooth and moisturize the skin. Microdermabrasion is fairly simple, it’s a painless, skin rejuvenation procedure using a combination of fine abrasive diamond tips with a vacuum type suction applied to the skin. Facials should be as much a part of grooming as manicures and pedicures.
Pain. It tells us what to avoid and protects us from harm. Unfortunately, it is also a fact of life when doing procedures of any kind. You can steel yourself to it when the issue is medical, but it certainly makes us pause when we want to enhance our appearance.
