Kybella

Kybella is an injectable medicine administered to reduce excess fat below the chin. Kybella is indicated to reduce a double chin in patients above 18 years of age, and is contraindicated if you are allergic to the medication or have infection in and around your chin.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. Your doctor numbs the area with a topical medicine or ice pack, and injects kybella beneath your chin. Each session may consist of up to 50 injections. For optimal results, you may need 6 sessions spaced across a month, but most often, you will observe visible results after 2 to 4 sessions. Your doctor is the right person to determine how many sessions you may require.

As with any medication, kybella may involve certain risks and complications such as edema, pain, numbness, headache, swallowing difficulty, high blood pressure, nausea, redness of the skin or swelling at the site of injection. Kybella is not to be injected in other area of the body as its safety has not been tested in clinical trials yet.
