  There has been a lot of talk about vitamin D in the last several years. It is clear that we don’t make enough of it and we don’t eat enough of it to keep us going. The only really valuable one is cod liver oil, topping the charts at 1360IU of vitamin D per serving. I don’t know about you, but cod liver oil is gross, and I bet the cod donating their livers are not very happy about being at the top of this list!

  Cromolyn sodium ophthalmic solution 4% could improve the redness associated with Rosacea. Just like Mirvaso, the new topically applied medicine used to reduce flushing in Rosacea, Cromolyn sodium could be a boon for these same sufferers. The efficacy of cromolyn was evaluated in a 2012 study designed to look at the link between Mast Cells and the overabundance of the antimicrobial peptides called cathelicidins in individuals with Rosacea. Cromolyn sodium is available as both eye drops known as Crolom and Opticrom and the nasal allergy spray NasalCrom. This medicine helps stabilize the membranes of mast cells, which are involved in allergic reactions.

• Platelet Rich Plasma in the treatment of Hair Loss

  Alopecia Areata and Telogen Effluvium are both reversible types of hair-loss induced by inflammation. It has now been shown that these entities improved more with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) than with injected cortisone.

  It appears that PRP helps shift sleeping hairs into the growth phase, and also helps keep them there, and does it better than injected cortisone, at least in this study!
