NLite Laser Reduces Wrinkles with No Downtime
May be the most significant advance in wrinkle treatment in decades
MIAMI AND AVENTURA, FL, March 1, 2001 - The newly approved NLite™ Laser Collagen Replenishment (LCR) system, which is taking the field of cosmetic surgery by storm, is quite simply the most important advancement in wrinkle reduction in decades.
Data provided by the laser's manufacturer, ICN/Medical Alliance, Inc., showed that 7,000 treatments have been performed in the U.S. since October 2000. NLite was approved just last September for wrinkle therapy. Results, which require a 90-day waiting period, are better than first projected.
"More patients are requesting non-invasive procedures," said Barry I. Resnik, MD, Board-Certified Dermatologist and Cosmetic Surgeon at Resnik Dermatology in Miami and Aventura, Florida. "They want less down-time, and no side-effects. The NLite™ laser system can do just that."
The NLite works by safely bypassing the outer surface of the skin, directly targeting the subdermal layer, or dermis. The NLite mimics an irritation of the dermis, thereby stimulating collagen production. The new collagen growth fills in the cracks or the void in the wrinkle, reducing the crease of the wrinkle.
Collagen growth is increased 84.5% with a single treatment and up to 141% with a second treatment. Unlike collagen that is injected and needs to be repeated three to four times a year, this collagen is your own tissue and will not be absorbed. In the nine-month study submitted to the FDA, the collagen remained with no regression.
New studies indicate that application for NLite has proven successful in cases of extreme acne scarring and active acne. In addition, areas that were not treatable by conventional lasers such as the chest and neck can now be safely treated
Committed to delivering quality dermatology and cosmetic surgery to the South Florida area for over 30 years, Barry I. Resnik, MD and Sorrel S. Resnik, MD of Resnik Dermatology offer the finest and innovative therapies for adult and pediatric dermatology, skin cancer surgery, hair transplantation, and laser and cosmetic surgery.
